Midden in Nederland, in een bosrijke omgeving, ligt deze prachtige villa gebouwd door de Belgische villabouwer Domus Aurea. Hoewel de villa nog jong is, heeft het de uitstraling van een herenhuis uit de achttiende eeuw. Dat is te danken aan de klassieke bouw van de villa, maar ook door het gebruik van hergebruikte materialen, zoals robuuste stenen en oud eikenhout. De villa bestaat uit twee gebouwen, het hoofdhuis is wit gekaleid en heeft een leien dak, het bijgebouw met de garage is gemetseld van oude papensteen.
Om de buitenkant echt oud te laten lijken, hebben de bewoners in de muur van het bijgebouw, een “dichtgemetselde staldeur” laten maken, net alsof die er ooit heeft gezeten! En zo zijn er nog meer van dat soort details in en rond de villa zoals verborgen nisjes, vensterbanken die uitgefreesd zijn en een ossenoog raam.
Een van de mooiste ruimtes in het huis, is de oranjerie met zijn prachtige hoge boogramen die uitzicht geven op de klassieke tuin. De ruimte heeft een hoog plafond met 150 jaar oude balken en een Franse terracottavloer. Middenin de kamer staat een lange ruwe eikenhouten tafel met acht stoelen eromheen. De eyecatcher in de oranjerie is de enorme zandstenen schouw uit 1850, waar de bewoners regelmatig grote vuren in stoken!
Ook de keuken heeft een oude ambiance, met kastjes van ruw hout, een hardstenen werkblad en een robuuste vloer van oude kerkdallen. De woonkamer oogt rustig maar warm met een bank waarin men heerlijk kunt wegzakken, en ook hier een grote originele schouw die prominent in de ruimte staat.
Om het huis ligt een rustige klassieke tuin, ontworpen door de bekende Belgische tuinarchitect Ludo Dierckx, met aan de voorkant een gedeeltelijk overdekt terras met riant zwembad.
Ondanks dat het een groot huis is, oogt het erg knus en gezellig, en zijn de villabouwer en de bewoners er zeker in geslaagd een sfeer te creëren van een oud doorleefd herenhuis met alle gemakken en luxe van een jonge villa!
A young villa with an old weathered look and feeling
In the center of the Netherlands, in a wooded area, lies this splendid villa built by the Belgian villa builder Domus Aurea. Although the villa is still young, it has the look of a mansion of the eighteenth century. That is due to the classical construction of the villa, but also by the use of recycled materials, such as robust stone and old oak. The villa consists of two buildings, the main house is white painted in a special way and has a slate roof, the building with the garage is cemented with a old stone.
To make it look really old, the residents had created a “bricked barn door” in the wall of the outbuilding, to make it look like that it has always been! And there are more of that kind of detail in and around the villa such as hidden alcoves, window sills that are milled and a bull’s eye window frame.
One of the most beautiful rooms in the house, is the orangery with its beautiful high arched windows that provide views at the classical garden. The room has a high ceiling with beams and a 150 year old French terracotta floor. In the middle of the room is a long rough oak table with eight chairs around it. The eye-catcher in the orangery is the huge sandstone fireplace from 1850, where residents are often burning large fires!
The kitchen has an old atmosphere, with tables of raw wood, a stone worktop and a robust floor of old “kerkdallen”; a kind of stone. The living room looks quiet but warm with a bank in which one can sink into and here also a large original fireplace that stands prominent in the living room.
Around the house is a quiet classic garden designed by the famous Belgian landscaper Ludo Dierckx, with a front partially covered terrace and a swimming pool.
Although it is a big house, it looks very cozy and comfortable, and the villa builder and the residents certainly managed to create a lived-old mansion with all the comfort and luxury of a young villa!
